physical readiness Coordinator (PRC) Course

Description
This intensive 24 hour Physical Readiness Coordinator Course emphasizes physical readiness, but also provides information about nutrition, weight management, stress management, smoking cessation and substance abuse prevention. The course provides the training that will help improve officers’ performance and health while reducing liability, disability, and medical costs to your agency.

During the three day program, participants will:

  • Learn how to screen officers for safe participation in training and testing,

  • Gain competence in assessing officers’ current fitness levels,

  • Discover how to set fitness goals and develop plans to meet those goals,

  • Study ways to monitor individual’s progress, and

  • Develop an understanding of how to apply safety, planning, and coordination procedures to an agency’s fitness program.

The course is highly interactive, with numerous activities to stimulate learning and encourage participants to share their experiences. The course materials include the Coordinator Guide, a valuable reference that serves as a workbook for the course.

Physical Readiness Test (PRT) Administrator Course
 

Description

This course is intended for agency personnel whose role will be limited to test administration such as personnel, recruiting, or human resources. They will not be required to conduct training or provide education to program participants. 

The course includes approximately eight (8) hours of online training which must be completed prior to the one-day hands on component for a total of sixteen (16) hours of training time. 

During the course, participants will: 

  • Learn the what, why, how of "good testing",

  • Review the legal and practical history of physical testing in public safety,

  • Learn how to screen officers for safe participation in testing,

  • Develop a physical warm-up routine,

  • Gain competence in conducting the Physical Readiness Test Battery.

The course is interactive and does require physical participation in the warm-up and testing, however, allowances can be made for those for whom exercise is contraindicated.
